United Nations peacekeeping and humanitarian branches carry out frontline work in conflict and crisis areas, including civilian protection and emergency relief. Examples are: the United Nations Department of Peace Operations, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the World Food Programme, and the United Nations Children’s Fund.
